Ahhh Yen Yen, the old Cocoa Beach stand-by. We've been going to this place for probably 15 years now and still love it. We ALWAYS get the snow white prawns. They are just so delicious and consistent. Their shrimp spring rolls are awesome, too. Other staples for us are the beef fried rice, salt & pepper pork, and Peking duck (more special occasion). This is not your typical Chinese restaurant; it's truly something special. Prices are more expensive than other Chinese places in the area but you'll know why once you try it. It's head & shoulders above anything else around here.

Wow! We had the White Prawn dish that was one of the best we have ever eaten. A must have. We started with the Scallop wrapped in Bacon that was cooked perfect. Great Won Ton Soup. We also tried the Sa-Cha Beef that was cooked to perfection. Andre our waiter was excellent. We will be back.

Delicious food. Great service. Best Chinese food in town. Much more authentic, nothing like your usual Chinese take-out. Huge menu with many great options!

NO RED SAUCE WITH THE WANTONS! Food was bland! Rice was hard, and smelled like old eggs. CALL THE NEXT PLACE.

Yen Yen's is an exceptional restaurant! My family has been going to this one or it's sister restaurants for years. The proprietor is frequently there, and always very gracious and remembers all of our names and our favorite dishes. I highly recommend the Murray's Chicken, Dung Bor Shrimp and Peking Duck (must be ordered in advance). Classy place. Don't order typical chinese takeout dishes - go for the fun stuff and you won't be sorry! In short delicious food, large portions, excellent service. You will go home full and happy!

Amazing! Very delicious. We had a Mai Tai drink and it was so tasty. Started out with Snow white prawns, hot & sour soup and wonton soup. For dinner we ordered Shelley' s chicken, lemon chicken and cashew chicken which is not even on the menu. Our server was very friendly an let us know we could basically order anything( even a non menu item and they would make it). Now THAT'S great service and a great chef. Owner was there greeting and seating. Very involved in running the restaurant. Food was so good that other tables were commenting to each other about their favorite dishes. Will definitely be back

Surprisingly delicious. Great service, owner is there greeting each customer and will remember you when you go back again. The food is made from fresh ingredients and you can tell is homemade. The dumplings were like my friend makes them at home. The white prawns were huge and exceptional. A must go even if you're not fond of Chinese food! You'll love it.

Well, I know you shouldn't order a margarita at a Chinese restaurant but we did and they were the worst I have ever had anywhere, including an airplane. Interestingly their watery flavor was caught up and repeated in the ginger salad, also quite watery. On the plus side, the fried dumplings were actually home made and the fried rice was unusually good. (Didn't try the famous shrimp so can't comment there.)

We love this place. My grandmother has been going for years and they know her by name. I have never had a bad dish there. My favorite dish is the lemon chicken. My grandmother always gets the pressed duck and it has never been bad. The glen fun noodles is awesome if you can't decide what meat you want. We love the dumplings and the service generally is outstanding. The flowers on all the tables are real and fresh and we really love how easy it is to share food on the family style tables. If I could give more stars I so would.

First visit to the Cocoa Beach area in 10 years. Requested a meal at YenYen, and hoped the Snow White Prawns were as good as I remembered. They were!! What a wonderful dish, and I savored every single bite. Parking can be an issue. We were lucky enough to find a spot on the street. Parking lot behind restaurant is probably city owned and it costs to park there. Service was friendly and efficient.

My boyfriend's grandparents own a condo in Cocoa Beach so we try to get down there a few times a year and this is one of the best chinese places I've been to, we usually end up going a couple times to this place every visit we make!! As appetizers we've had the boneless honey pork strips and the sezhuan (sp) dumplings... entrees: snow white prawns - which are DELICIOUSSSSS, Hunan beef, Mango Mahi Mahi fish... everything is very good and a very surprising find for Cocoa Beach! The owner owns 2 other restuarants, one is a fast take out sorta place and the other is a Yen-Yen II in another town nearby.

I love this place. First, don't be surprised by the atmosphere. It's like going back in time and it's a little stuffy or quiet should I say. But you get comfortable quickly and it makes it part of the experience. The food is delicious, fresh and large portions. It's my favorite Chinese restaurant ever. I always look forward to eating there.

Two words: Shelly's Chicken. Great dish. Would have been 5 stars but menu a tad pricey and entrees do not include egg roll, soup, etc.

Best Oriental food in the world. Seriously. The White Prawns, the Hot and Sour Soup, the Beans with Garlic, the Jasmine Fried Rice. All GREAT. I've been eating here for almost 20 years and it is always wonderful.

It was a relief to find good Asian food during my week at Cocoa Beach. Although the dishes I tried were Americanized (Western broccoli instead of Chinese), the ingredients were very fresh and the food was light and had a lot of flavor. They aren't open on Mondays, so watch out for that. There was plenty of easy street parking.

We still go here a lot ... and it used to be one of the best restaurants in the area. The menu is extremely diverse, and the duck is reliable. Much more than "typical" Chinese fare. Lately, however, the quality has deteriorated (buliding, service & food quality) .... our last trip was particularly forgetful .. and we won't be making the trip back for a while.

I'm giving 4 stars strictly based on the snow white prawns. We had been recommended them by several people before actually trying them out and we really like them. However my husband and I both agree that nothing else we've tried there has been bad, it just hasn't been anything special.

I was looking for Chinese food in Cocoa Beach, and this place received multiple good reviews, so I decided to try it out. I should have known better. The reviews were particularly full of praise for the "snow white prawns" with a supposedly delicious "low fat cream sauce" which turned out to be x-large fried shrimp in sweetened mayonnaise. The other dishes we ordered were only nominally Chinese, and hardly worth eating in any case. Not recommended if you like any semblance of authenticity.

Ok, so I decided to give this place a shot. We had 4 in our party, 2 adults, 2 children. I ordered the Snow White prawns 6 for $21, daughter ordered orange chicken $12.95, wife ordered steamed chicken for $12.95, plain noodles for $5.50 for my picky son, 3 sodas $2.75 each and cheese wontons 6 for $6.90. Now for the food. My prawns had little flavor and tasted like it was drenched in a sweet mayo (not worth the money!). My wife liked her chicken. The orange chicken was the best (I tried a couple pieces), the only reason it received a two star rating. The service was ok, I had one refill and had to ask. The server was friendly though. Bottom line, we spent $71 plus tip and I felt like we had way better for $45. It's expensive and I would only return to order the orange chicken to go. The entire was from the 70-80's, needed to be upgraded. We are in our mid 30's.

Came here on Easter Sunday right after two to five large tables were seated, so whoopsies, we had a long wait. So long that my daughter feel asleep after her appetizer, and we had to take our food to go. No matter: service was excellent. No questions, no attitude, and even putting our order ahead of another table seated before us to accommodate our change in plans. That was above and beyond what we expected. And not to mention the food was really GOOD. We half expected the typical NY/NJ Chinese food fare and were pleasantly surprised by the different veg combos used in the dishes. Nope, no chicken broccoli here folks, but try the Mango Chicken and the Shredded Pork (first item on Pork section). Outstanding in freshness and flavor. Looking forward to coming back.

I had the pleasure of having lunch with some girlfriends at Yen Yen on a Saturday afternoon. Since it was spring break on Cocoa Beach, we found parking to be difficult and we ended up only finding affordable parking 3 blocks away as the restaurant lot is used by beach goers. We feared a long wait to eat but, once inside, we were seated immediately and served by very attentive and efficient staff. The restaurant is decorated in an elegant style that is well maintained but dated. We all agreed that the food was excellent. I had the sweet and sour chicken and it practically melted in my mouth. The portions were the perfect size and came with fried rice. I recommend this restaurant highly!

For all the reviews below that state that there is a smell of urine when you walk in - those people must have peed on themselves. This place was fantastic! Everything from the ambience, service and food. We went as a family of 7 which included 2 children under the age of 10. We started out with a wide array of appetizers from egg roll to Cantonese dumplings - all were delicious. The egg rolls were large and flavorful. The server informed us that all items were made in house and fresh - which was quite obvious. As for the main entrees we had basically one from each section. The hit was their number one seller - Snow White prawns. The sauce was unique and and the overall dish was a hit. The Shellys chicken was the number two seller and was fantastic. The chicken was cut in strips and lightly breaded tossed in a sweet brown sauce. The roasted duck was a hit with the 10 year old (and everyone else), lolled mostly of legs and came with duck sauce and plum sauce on the side. The special orange beef was my favorite of the night. The beef was cooked to perfection in a delightful brown sauce with a hint of orange. I would like to mention that we dined here after visiting the Kennedy space center - this is a perfect place to go after. This was a hot spot for astronauts back in the day and still is for family members. There are pictures of all the astronauts that have dined there and it is a neat experience for the kids. I will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

The food was alright, but the ambiance was horrible. The place looks and feels like the Haunted Mansion from DisneyWorld. It smells like a urinal, and the wait staff was rude since we were in our twenties and about fifty years younger than the normal patrons. I would get take out, but will never done in house again.

Best Chinese I have ever eaten. we eat here on a regular basis. great selections for vegans and vegetarians. bean curd and brown rice available. all meals made to order. Very nice atmosphere. Tely is a great host. Waiter Rick is one of the best.

  • Pking L.

Extremely pleasant staff and owners. Food not up to par vegetables are obviously frozen and taste that way. Noodle dishes can be made better at home. I would generously say food no better than a takeout mall place. Very pricey for the actual quality.

I've been meaning to come here for years and I finally did. People have raved about the food so I browsed the Yelp reviews and ordered the Snow White Prawns that everyone raves about. I brought my 10-yr old and, word of caution, there is not a "kid-friendly" menu. We struggled to find something familiar to him (the menu has "fancy" Chinese offerings). We finally asked the patient and friendly waiter for a recommendation and he suggested the Da-Chien Prawns in non-spicy since my son was also in the mood for shrimp. I posted pics of each. The inside decor screams of identity crisis and could use some updating to something more asian or modern. The Da-Chien Prawns were a hit and I liked them too, although I'd order them spicy if I order them on a future visit. Plenty of flavor and the prawns were huge. The Snow White Prawns were good as well but I found them a bit too sweet for my liking and couldn't finish the dish (I ate 5 of 6). Not really a knock on them, it's all about taste. In both cases, the prawns were huge to the point of knife & fork size. I was afraid 6 wouldn't be enough but it was plenty. I'll come back and try something more familiar like Hunan next time to give the place a more traditional tasting and evaluation. Parking can be a pain for this location. There are some street spots in front and a lot behind. The street spots are free but pretty limited. The spots behind are managed by the city of Cocoa Beach and there's a sign at the door telling you how you can pay for parking. In short, park at your own risk or pay.

Food was so good! Egg rolls, Lo mein sweet and sour chicken, etc. was amazing and I definitely recommend this restraint even if you don't like Chinese food. Service was great too, the owner was even on site! You definitely can't come to cocoa beach without going to Yen Yen.

Excellent food, our waiter Mike was very accommodating of our tables needs and informative. The red snapper in black bean sauce was out of this world, along with their snow white prawns.

  • Adis M.

Its South Florida, do you really expect good Chinese? The food here is okay. Nothing to rave about and nothing nasty. I think most dishes are made with the same sauce. They do go for more of the high end feel in the restaurant which really does not help the place out. Wait staff was super friendly and knowledgeable and really did accommodate us with our food order.

  • John B.

I too am addicted to the White Prawns. Absolutely tasty. Other dishes there are good to very good. I love fried rice and if a place has great fried rice they usually have decent Chinese food. if your in the area make this a stop for the prawns. The only drawback is it is one of the most expensive Chinese place I have ever ate at. An order of the white prawns, shrimp fried rice and small wanton soup - 30 bucks. I guess if you have the dish everyone wants you can offer high prices.....but I'll still go back.

I didn't make it any further than walking through the door before we turned around. Smells like a urinal.

The place seemed very nice, and all around us people were having a great time. After a couple of bites of our own meal I choked on a huge hair in a noodle dish, and couldn't continue eating (loss of appetite, seems understandable, no?) What then commenced was a negotiation of how much I would have to pay for the meal, rather than a flat-out comp for the meal. The manager didn't even come over to address the incident after I reported it to our waiter.... it wasn't until we directly asked for him that he showed up, and even then we weren't treated well by him. Update; writing this review we realized that we were really upset with the way things were handled (mostly in that the manager didn't even come over to address the incident) and went back in to talk to the manager about how unhappy we were with the experience, after 5 minutes or so it seems we convinced the manager that we weren't trying to con him out of our bill by putting stuff in our food. I believe that he truly has had this happen (a lot) and he thanked us for remaining polite and for our genuine sincerity in discussing the issue.

Simply put. Snow prawns. Yen yen is my must stop every time I'm in Florida. Service is so-so. All their food is amazing. But if you are the foodie I know you are you will get the snow prawns. This is the only place I've seen that has them. Which is why I've had probably well over 50 in my lifetime. I can't get enough of them.

Outstanding Chinese food in the heart of Cocoa Beach. I've been coming for years. It's a family-owned and operated restaurant. They have some unique dishes. The Mai Thais are awesome. The veal and lamb dishes are some of the best on the menu.

I went last night for dinner. My Lemon Chicken was a bit tough, my husband ordered Glens Fun Noodles, a bit bland but very good. The pan fried dumplings were about average, a little on the small size. The chicken lo mein was good. I think it was an off night for the cook. I've had better there. The service was excellent and our server was on top of it as we were a bit strapped for time. I'll go back, but I'll wait 6 weeks or so.

Very good Chinese food. Took my elderly parents here. There air conditioning was broken, but the had fans on, and it was too bad inside. Very nice decor, cloth table cloths and napkins. Lemon chicken was very good. My folks also loved their dinners. The only thing I think would be an improvement for them is to have noodles with plum sauce when you sit down, and they did not give out fortune cookie out at the end of the meal. We will go back for sure!

OK we just got home from Yen Yen. our first time, we went on the ratings we saw here on Yelp. ON POINT!!! the owner was very friendly and took us to the table, and chatted with us a while. the server was great, when we gave him a few options of what we would like, he chose for us, and everything was very good. the prawns everyone talks about were good, but not mind blowing, we have had similar in Orlando at Kim Wu, and preferred Kim Wu's. the sauce for the dumplings was indeed full of flavor profiles bouncing back and forth, very good! toward the end of the meal we placed a special to go order for the kids, one thing particular, not at all on the menu, but we were graciously accommodated, and BTW, the Chinese sausage they put in the fried rice, is the best I'd ever had, very sweet and moist, full of flavor, definitely tasted a bit of Chinese five spice. all the ingredients appeared to be high quality and definitely fresh, and everything was cooked perfectly. the presentation was very nice as well, and dishes were replaced after each appetizer. I would love to list a downside for some of you, but there really wasn't one, so I would highly suggest this place if you are ever within a 20 mile radius. worth every bit of a 30% tip.

We went to Yen Yen because of the good reviews that were posted. We were both greatly disappointed in the food and service. We tried the crab meat and corn soup, pineapple chicken fried rice, and chicken lo mein. The crab meat and corn soup tasted like cream corn with very little crab meat and very little flavor. The pineapple chicken fried rice was okay, but nothing special. It had very little chicken and was flavored with lots of soy sauce. The chicken lo mein also had very little chicken and tasted mostly of garlic. Neither one of us was impressed with the food. The server acted as if he were bored and hated being bothered. Needless to say, we will not be going back. Beware of false "good" reviews.

We were in the mood for Chinese while visiting NASA, and Yen Yen came up on Yelp. We decided to give it a try. The host and waitstaff were as great as the food. Value for the $ was also excellent with large portions. Others have rated it with 2 $$ but coming from LA, I think it's priced correctly.

Now, this is upscale Asian food. It is a must try for anyone in or near the area. The food is fresh and unique. We had WOOD EARS! For starters, the Snow White Prawns are excellent. They are priced individually or in sets of 6. Get one per person as a pre-dinner treat. As for the meals, let the staff guide you. There were 4 of us in our party and all had something very different. There is so much to choose from and it is all excellent. Our guide that evening was Anthony. If he is available, sit in his section. He was a consultant...not a waiter. The owner, who is always in the restaurant, is a trip. The prices are not outrageous. What is outrageous is paying the same for a meal at PF Changs. You will not be disappointed.

  • Donna F.

We have been here three times....THREE... the first time with friends, service was NOT good, waiter had and attitude but food was good, not great, but we were catching up with friends so we didn't care. Second, just my husband and I service was ok, food good (I had the same as the first time) Third time it was my daughters birthday, there were six of us, the waiter was horrible, kept us waiting, forgot a meal completely, didn't care, forgot drinks, food came out at different times. We told him to forget something but add a side of vegetables (8.00 for a "side")....when our check came it was wrong! We questioned the waiter and he threw his hands up and told the (owner) mumbling..."there complaining about a price" he threw his hands up and rolled his eyes and walked away!! The owner took 20% off the bill and said it was all he could do! We will never go back....three times too much!!!!

I ordered the Young Chow Fried Rice and it didn't meet my expectations. For $12.95 I thought this would be some of the best fried rice I ever ate. The only positive thing I can say is that they didn't use soy sauce. In my opinion many restaurants overdue it with the soy in fried rice. I liked being able to add my own soy. The shrimp was good I think there were four of them. The chicken was rubbery and it also had chopped up canned mushrooms. Canned mushrooms shouldn't even be in the restaurant. Overall the dish was lacking flavor and is something that I will never order again. I will be back to try something else because I love Chinese food and it is very hard to find even decent Chinese. I have a feeling it might be the best Chinese restaurant in town but they really need to step up the quality of their ingredients for the prices they are charging. Saturday night and the place was packed. Maybe I can find something better next time. I will definitely go for lunch next time. Hopefully it's a bit cheaper.

Very good! Wanted to get the Snow White Prawns but they do not have that as a take out option. I liked that they limit take out to what works best!

We have been enjoying this place for a number of years now. It is our favorite Asian restaraunt anywhere! Please note: it is not a buffet or the usual hum drum combination plate, fortune cookie kind of place. If you want that there are many reasonably priced places. But if you want Asian fine dining, come here. Among our favorites are: Snow White prawns, shelleys chicken, green beans with ground pork and the won ton soup for two. Staff are friendly and know the menu well; tell them what you enjoy and they will make good recomm

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
